No. Queen Grafter works fully as a standalone app — you can create your own colonies and queens within it. If you already use Bee Inspector, you can sign in with the same account and Queen Grafter will read your existing hive and apiary data automatically.
Queen Grafter is currently in early access on iOS. A full App Store release and Android version are in active development. Email us at support@annicastudios.com to join the beta and be notified when it launches publicly.
Queen Grafter is free to use during the early access period. A subscription plan will be introduced at public launch, with a free tier that covers core session tracking. Early access users will be given advance notice before any paid features are introduced.
VSH (Varroa Sensitive Hygiene) Q(D)W notation is the Harbo/USDA system for recording varroa resistance scores: Q = queen score, D = drone score, W = worker score, each on a 0–4 scale. A high-scoring notation like 4(4)4 indicates a colony with strong VSH traits across all castes. Queen Grafter records and displays these scores for every reared queen.
All milestones are auto-calculated from your graft date: Acceptance Check (day 3), Cells Capped (day 10), Cell Transfer to mating nucs (day 14), Virgin Queens Emerge (day 16), Mating Flights Begin (day 23), Mating Complete (day 28), Laying Check (day 30), and VSH Assessment Window (day 49).
Yes. Queen Grafter supports unlimited concurrent sessions. The dashboard shows all active sessions, milestones due this week, and your active colony count at a glance. Each session has its own independent milestone timeline.
